Who I Am Professionally:
Hi! I’m Marisa. I’m originally from the the Midwest, but currently West Coast-based as full-time freelance writer and small business owner. My company, Be A Light LLC, provides remote writing coaching, tutoring, and editing services. Through my company, I help clients create and market standout content, edit manuscripts and papers, redo LinkedIn and other profiles, strengthen resumes and cover letters, develop their writing skills, and find their voices. I also provide English/ESL/Reading/Language Arts tutoring services and confidence coaching aligned with the client’s specific goals.
As a writer, I’ve been published on hundreds of sites, blogs, magazines, and print books on the topics of love/relationships, faith, music/culture, education, mental health, fitness, empowerment, inspiration, parenting, healthy living, self-love, identity and purpose, among many others. I’ve also helped companies develop their brand and voice. I have a knack for writing emotional, strong, and SEO-friendly content, and other copy that’s professional, yet conversational and engaging. I am also the author of the poetry collection, Somewhere On A Highway.
Who I Am Personally:
I’m a twenty-something with big dreams and a whole lot of passion. Ever since I was a little girl, I knew two things: One, that I wanted to be a published author. And two, that the beach was calling my name. A year after graduating college, I packed up my life and made the solo cross-country move from Chicago suburbs to sunny San Diego where I dove headfirst into remote-based writing and editing (and released my first poetry book about my journey!)
I now take full advantage of the weather, beach yoga, acia smoothies, and of the flexibility I have in working for myself. (Which really looks a lot like dancing around the kitchen in my fuzzy socks, brainstorming on my back patio, and finding cozy, dog-friendly coffee shops to work in!) I love running, cooking, keeping plants alive (a work in progress), spending time with my boyfriend and his son, and going to music festivals. I’m also a big fan of kids and dogs—but who isn’t?
