Building a business is no easy task. In fact, regardless of whether you’re still in the launching stages or full-swing, you will have your own set of challenges to fight through. From finding a domain to launching your site, getting initial funding to gathering sales, or even branding, guaranteed you’ll have moments of frustration. But don’t be discouraged! There are an abundance of resources available to help you build your business fast.
In the summer of 2018 I ‘soft’ launched my company, Be A Light LLC. Starting from scratch as a woman with no real background in business or marketing, I had my own set of obstacles. But finding people, companies, and ideas to help me grow has brought my business from the floundering stages to something I’m extremely proud of. I’ve spent hours talking to people, researching products and services, and making a ton of mistakes. Based on what I’ve learned, here are five useful ways to build your business fast, regardless of your industry.
1. Find a domain that fits your needs and website goals.
I dive into this topic much deeper in this piece about creating a standout website, but the basics are the same. To have a great website (and in turn a successful business) you need to find a domain or hosting site that meets your needs. If you’re going to have an online shop, you’ll want to find a domain that supports commerce, or is made specifically for tracking and promoting sales. A great example of this would be WooCommerce. If you’re looking to create a blog, you might want to pursue a domain with strong support or customization features that are writing-specific. I use WordPress.com and love all the features it has for writing and creating. [If you click the banner below, and enter the code HOLIDAY20 you can get 20% off your purchase!]
Regardless of what you’re searching for, there is something that will fit. Narrow down exactly what you want your website to do for your company and offer for your customers. Then browse around and find out what fits!
2. Establish a security system.
This is so important, especially if a large portion of your business traffic and sales are online. Finding a security software/system that works (and has good support) will be so crucial to your development. I use JetPack (associated with my WordPress site) and I’ve been blown away by the swiftness and customer service. [For 20% off your purchase, use the code HOLIDAY20.]
3. Invest in a software to help build your business goals and projects.
If you want to build your business fast, you’ll probably want to invest in some support. This goes beyond tapping into people in your industry or mentors, this is about finishing what you’ve started. This site, GRS-CORS (Global Resource Solutions – Commissioning and Operational Readiness Software) can help. This software can take your ideas and make them happen. The responsive team works with you, insuring that your vision is carried out, and that what you want to have accomplished is, and quickly.

4. Start branding.
Branding is so crucial to getting your business off the ground. Not only do you have to think about what message you went to send to potential customers, but you want to work on a unified theme throughout your website, social media, and other print/physical resources. One of the first steps in branding is to figure out a logo, and you can do this in a myriad of ways.
One of the best (and most cost effective) ways to develop a logo is this site, Design Contest. Rather than searching for freelancers to help with this one-time project (which may or may not be the quality or caliber you’re looking for), you can host a contest and have designers compete for your preferences! This is an excellent way to see a bunch of different designs, and to pick what works best for you. You can also be specific in your requirements, and get a bunch of different ideas for creative content in the future. This site is also affordable, which makes the entire process even easier!
