I often share my thoughts on freelancing, motivation and internet writing, but recently someone inquired about my favorite home office/desk products. This is a question I’m asked about so often, and so I wanted to compile a list of my favorite items so you could get a little behind-the-scenes on my life, as well as see if anything works well for you!
1. These neon post-it divider tabs
.
I absolutely love these neon post-it divider tabs. I use them in my planner, to create an extra space for my to-do list, and in my notebooks to leave reminders for myself in the margins. The bright colors also give my pages a little pop! (Which I swear, actually boosts my mood.)
They are handy, removable, and with the side tab that sticks out, easy to find and navigate in my notebooks/pages/journals etc. I would highly recommend!
2. The Lenovo Yoga 11.6″ Laptop
.
Okay, I’ll admit I’ve never been an Apple person (but I’m slowly leaning towards the dark side.) However, when it comes to efficiency, ease of use, and a powerful product that’s both a laptop and tablet, hands down, this Lenovo Yoga 11.6″ Laptop is the way to go.
I’ve had this computer (and variations of it) for the past three years. I love it. I can’t tell you enough about its awesomeness! Not only is it a regular laptop (and TOUCHSCREEN!) but it flips to convert into a tablet, where you can WRITE DIRECTLY ON IT! It’s like having a notebook and computer at the same time!
This model is lightweight, easy to carry, durable (I may have dropped it a time or two 😂), customizable (I added a fun laptop cover to it!) and did I mention touchscreen? Yes. It’s amazing.
3. This list of daily writing prompts
.
If I get stuck, the best thing for me (besides scrolling through my personal and endless list of random ideas in my notebook) is to seek inspiration from a writing prompt journal. I’ve been using this one for the last year (even to go back trough and re-try old prompts!) and I love it. There’s something new on each page.
If you find yourself getting frustrated or stuck often, or if you’re just looking for some fresh ideas—check this out!
4. This liquid white out
.
I make mistakes. Quite a few of them. And so I love this specific brand of white out because it’s less clumpy and looks more natural on the paper or pages of my planner. Plus, you can get it in bulk for a discount on Amazon, which is convenient (if you’re too lazy to go to the store, or live 10 miles from the nearest Walmart…which is my current struggle).
5. recycled composition notebooks
.
Since living by the beach, I’ve become way more conscious of what products I’m using, what waste I’m creating, and how I can conserve/reuse/recycle. Over the last two years, I’ve started using this brand of recycled composition notebooks because they use “100% post-consumer-waste recycled pages made using recaptured landfill gas” and the paper is processed chlorine-free and printed with soy ink—so honestly, the best.
I’ve always loved the look and feel of composition notebooks. These ‘de’compoosition notebooks incorporate all the non-spiral softness of the regular versions, with a sustainable twist. They also come in fun designs and colors, too. (Right now I’m a fan of the animal print!)
6. This set of Pilot erasable gel pens
.
Gel pens are my thing. I’ve loved and used them since I was a kid. As I’ve gotten used to the different feels, colors, and uses for them, I’ve began to lean towards erasable kinds, as they allow for a lot more flexibility (and help in creating and organizing a schedule that has constant changes and alterations—like mine does).
These Pilot erasable gel pens are my favorite just because of their convenience. They come in all the custom colors, but give room for mistakes, revisions, and changes without having to stick to the traditional (read: boring) pencils.
7. These neon legal pads
.
Maybe I’m partial to neon, I don’t know, but I really love the small, easy-to-carry, brightness and convenience of these neon legal pads.
These are sold in a bundle and come in pink, yellow, and green which just lifts your mood. The pages are durable (trust me, I’ve spilled, stained, ripped, folded etc. and they still stay intact!) And they are small enough to put in a backpack or purse (yes, I fold and put in my purse all the time!)
If you’re looking for an easy, not too pricey set of legal pads that come in fun colors—these are a great choice!
8. This set of colored fine-tip gel pens
.
When I’m looking for a burst of color, something to change my writing routine, want to go back and make bright revisions to an essay I’m working on, or just want to put some fun into my planner, I use these colored fine-tip gel pens.
They work well, come in brilliant colors, and still have all the smooth writing function of a traditional gel pen. (Plus they don’t really bleed through the paper – a big deal for writers!)
These are the products I have on my desk (and carry with me everywhere!) I will continue to update this list (and my overall product list as I stumble across more items I love. Have any questions or just want to connect? Drop me a comment or email.
